This manual presents the variables and coding information for the dataset resulting from the 1982 survey of 1,023 juvenile detention facilities and juvenile correctional institutions.
Abstract
All the facilities responded to the survey. The data cover the institution's characteristics, the reasons and types of custody, the characteristics of the juveniles in the facility, the types of offenses committed, movement into and out of the facility, staffing, treatment programs, and operating expenditures. An appendix presents the study questionnaire.
