Using data from the FBI's publication, 'Crime in the United States,' this volume presents data tables and figures comparing reported crime in Iowa with that in contiguous States and in all other States between 1976 and 1982.
Abstract
Rates of reported crimes in different categories are presented for Iowa, and the Iowa percentage of the national crime rate is included. Other data show Iowa's national ranking for Part I crimes, reported Part I crimes by geographic region and for Iowa and contiguous States, reported crime in Iowa cities with over 100,000 population, and the change in reported crime by State between 1970 and 1982. Rank ordering of crime rates by State, metropolitan areas, other cities, and rural areas is presented for 1976-82. Comparisons of Iowa and other States for specific crimes and summary statistics are also given. An introduction notes the demographics that relate to the State's relatively favorable national ranking.
