This manual presents the variables and coding information for the dataset consisting of reported 1981-82 Part I offenses, offenses cleared by arrest, and police officers killed and assaulted, as shown in the information assembled by the FBI from State and local law enforcement agencies participating in the Uniform Crime Reports.
Abstract
The 1981 file contains 1,200 variables for 16,615 agencies. The 1982 file contains 1,200 variables for 16,793 agencies. The data are not weighted. The data are available in two formats: card-image and OSIRIS. The manual includes descriptions of data collection procedures, the variables, and the way the information appears in the machine-readable codebook for a typical variable.
