This report analyzes the more than 300 research requests received and responded to by Ohio's Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) since its inception in 1978 (a 28-month period).
Abstract
Requests have come from the Office of Criminal Justice Services, State and local elected officials, other public agencies, private citizens, colleges and universities, the news media, and out-of-state sources. One-third of the requests were for law enforcement data and information about public attitudes toward crime, the subjects of research previously conducted by SAC. The center responds to requests within 1 day on the average, although the response time is not a precise performance measurement. Simple requests require little time, although difficult requests may require weeks to answer. The center notifies the requestor if the request cannot be answered within 2 to 3 days. Figures, data tables, and a list of five other SAC publications are included.
