Current literature on the grand jury consists primarily of studies dealing with the indictment process. Since our knowledge about the grand jury is based on such investigations, the purpose of this paper is to evaluate the grand jury's other function: the preparation and issuance of grand jury reports.
Abstract
The report writing function of the grand jury and the surrounding controversy is first examined and then the results of a survey taken to evaluate the impact of grand jury reports in Dade County, Fla. is discussed. Twenty-six footnotes are provided, and the appendix presents a summary table of grand jury authority in the States relating to presentations and reports. (Author abstract modified)
