Ever since the publication of Becker's 'Outsiders' in 1963, the labeling perspective has been the subject of much scrutiny.
Abstract
Moreover, the labeling perspective has been discarded to many social scientists. This seems premature judgement since the perspective has not yet been clearly specified. In this paper, the labeling approach is reexamined, conceptual issues in need of clarification are identified, and central theoretical problems are delineated. (Publisher abstract)
