Abstract
A discussion of employee theft and fraud prevention covers the assessment of vulnerability, provides 17 flow charts for basic asset control, and explains transportation security planning and management responsibility. It also gives guidelines for reviewing security procedures in action, for preventing document manipulation, and for creating an environment conducive to loss prevention. Guidelines on electronic data processing security describes data systems, the prevention and detection of computer crime, and the investigation and resolution of these crimes. Procedures in the event of a strike include prestrike planning, continued operations during work stoppage, and an internal review and critique of the procedures to be conducted at the conclusion of the labor dispute. Guidelines are given for safety and security in relation to parking and traffic control. Specific security needs of bicycles and motorcycles are addressed. Additional guidelines cover the protection of proprietary information, the handling of background investigations and other in-house investigations, and the role of insurance and insurance administration. Figures, charts, checklists, forms, and sample policy and procedure statements are included. For other volumes, see NCJ 97531 and NCJ 97533-35.
