A study was conducted to examine the ideological and political issues in debates surrounding the implementation of a issues in debates surrounding the implementation of a new law (Law 24) for the protection of youth in Quebec Province, Canada.
Abstract
Exploratory interviews were conducted with various professionals within the juvenile justice system. An examination of the positions defended by social workers, judges, and lawyers reveals that the opposition between the positions adopted by these professionals was only superficially ideological. Rather, the most important confrontation among these groups with respect to the implementation of the new law had its basis in vested professional interests. Provided are 14 references.
