This volume presents the background information and project descriptions that together make up Oklahoma's request for a grant of about $600,000 from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention starting in May 1985 and covering a 24-month period.
Abstract
The funds are intended for use in grants and contracts with public and private agencies for the development of more effective education, training, research, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation programs related to juvenile delinguency and juvenile justice. An introduction to juvenile justice in Oklahoma presents a chronology of major events since 1957, tabular data on juvenile crime, and descriptions of custodial alternatives and the court process. Substantive requirements of State legislation are summarized. A list of identified problems in juvenile justice in Oklahoma accompanies descriptions of 25 projects that would be funded by Federal and State funds. Each project description includes a list of objectives, a summary of proposed activities and services, the budget, eligible applicants, the project's relationship to similar programs, performance indicators, and special conditions. A discussion of technical assistance needs and appendixes presenting tabular data and background information are included.
