Discussion focuses on general research and access (to data) problems, with special attention to several categories. These categories include (1) research on criminal justice agencies', public, and victim perceptions of the seriousness of different forms of economic crime, (2) research on economic crime victims' responses to victimization and on the way that victims are handled in the media, and (3) surveys of fraud against organizations. Additional categories of research to be explored include studies of the functioning of regulatory agencies, improvements in economic crime statistics, case studies of economic crime, and research on the court processing of economic offenses. Analysis of each of these areas points out deficiencies in current research and new approaches to explore in conducting additional research. A total of 96 references are provided.
