This article examines several possible correlates of reported conflict between judges and local court managers in the area of caseflow management.
Abstract
Using a national survey of 380 nonappellate State court managers the findings indicate that there are systematic differences between respondents who did and did not mention caseflow related conflicts. Managers who reported that caseflow management represented an area of significant conflict were more likely to be: (1) college educated, especially in some administrative field; (2) an active participant in adopting new policies; (3) responsible for case and jury scheduling; and (4) working in courts lacking formal rules and procedures.
