Abstract
For the purposes of this report, the crime rate is defined as the total of Type I Offenses divided by the population. Type I Offenses are murder and voluntary manslaughter, rape, theft, aggravated assault, burglary, unlawful possession, and motor vehicle theft. Tabular data compare 1982 and 1981 crime for each offense type, and both aggregate data and individual offense data are presented by police sector for 1982. A graph shows aggregate crime data by month for both 1982 and 1981. Another table shows the crime rate by the six municipalities with the highest crime rates. The concluding table indicates the percentage change in crimes against persons and property for 1982 and 1981. A brief narrative summary of crime trends is provided.
