Among the topics covered by the 75 tables in Part 1 are murder victimization rates from 1965 to 1984, forcible rape in selected population breakdowns, percent distribution of robberies by location and weapon, burglary rates by location and time of day, and rates of larceny and motor vehicle theft. Rate changes over one or two decades are given for each Index crime. An examination of correlations between shifts in the age structure of the population and Index crime rates in Part 2 concludes that, in spite of wide differences in age-specific crime rates, the short-range impact of populational factors was small throughout the seven Index crimes studied.
