What are the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Standards for levels of protection for armored vehicles?
You can view information about National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Standards on the Standards and Testing section of the NIJ Web site. On this site, you will find a listing of Active NIJ Standards, Standards Under Development or Revision, as well as Inactive NIJ Standards, along with further information that may be of use to you.

Currently, no NIJ Standard exists to specifically address armored vehicles. Such items are generally covered under the provisions of NIJ Standard-0108.01: Ballistic Resistant Protective Materials. Standards for armored vehicles are being developed by the Office for Law Enforcement Standards (OLES).

You can also view information about NIJ Standards on the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC) Web site. If you have further questions regarding NIJ Standards, please contact NLECTC directly at (800) 248-2742 or asknlectc@justnet.org.
