How many children are abducted each year in the United States?
Statistics on the number of child abductions in the United States are available in National Incidence Studies on Missing, Abducted, Runaway, and Thrownaway Children (NISMART), a publication series from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). Further data are available in Child Victims of Stereotypical Kidnappings Known to Law Enforcement in 2011, an OJJDP bulletin.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation also publishes, through its National Crime Information Center, annual Missing Person and Unidentified Person Statistics.

For additional information, visit the Missing Children section of our website and our Missing Kids Special Feature. Also see the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website to learn more.
