Zone policing emphasizes the establishment of zone objectives and the development and implementation of prevention strategies. Zone policing also focuses on the development of police-citizen partnerships to address crime in the zone. Crime prevention planning involves identifying zone crime problems, establishing objectives, soliciting recommendations from field personnel, and implementing a plan to address the identified problems. Crime data, spot maps, and constable-citizen input will be used to identify zone problems. Prevention plans will be documented in a log and updated when a new problem is identified. A communications center will be established to support the operational field personnel. The center will foster the efficient and effective management of operational resources and time. Central to the effective operation of zone policing are complaint screening, incident prioritization and police response, dispatching, and public relations.
