This book uses simple language and line drawings to educate boys, their parents, and their teachers about the realities of sexual abuse.
Abstract
The idea for the book came from discussions with incarcerated male sex offenders, who revealed that they all had been victims of child sexual assault. It also arose from a study showing that among 800 elementary school students, the same numbers of boys as girls had been victims of some form of sexual exploitation. The text is designed for reading by boys and their parents or teachers together or separately. It explains kinds of touch, the nature of sexual abuse, ways that boys may be tricked or forced into unwanted touch, what victims may wish they could have done, and what they really can do. Escape techniques, signs that indicate to parents that their child needs additional help, and ways parents can help their sons. Victims' stories and list of types of agencies that can provide help.
