Interrelationships among multidisciplinary correlates of delinquency in the proposed design represent an operational theory of social bonding that extends beyond social control and learning factors to include biological potential and developmental events. Environmental and asocial variables of interest will include social learning, community and neighborhood factors, social class, child abuse, stress and life events, and drug and gang influences. Biological factors to be studied include heredity, psycho- and neurophysiological variables, and developmental variables. Environmental and psychological variables will include pre- and perinatal events, cognition, minimal brain dysfunction, diet and nutrition, personality, self-concept, and family factors. Dependent measures will include official and self-report data on delinquency and antisocial behaviors, as well as data from parent and teacher interviews. 5 figures and approximately 725 references.
