NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Banned Drugs Reference List

NCJ Number

This document lists over 3,000 brand name drugs that contain a substance banned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for use by college athletes.
Abstract
Drugs banned by the NCAA comprise eight categories: psychomotor stimulants, sympathominmetic amines, miscellaneous central nervous system stimulants, anabolic steroids, substances banned for specific sports, diuretics, street drugs, and substances and procedures given special consideration. The report briefly explains each of the banned drug categories. The report lists specific substances that are metabolized to and/or are excreted as substances prohibited by the NCAA. The drugs are listed in alphabetical order with the brand name first then the generic, metabolic, or prohibited substance name; the therapeutic pharmacological classification; and prescription or over-the-counter medication. Although the list contains an extensive number of the drugs found in the United States, new medications are introduced daily, so this should not be considered a complete listing.
