Abstract
Individual papers examine historical definitions of juvenile criminality, criminogenic traits of offenders, biological causes of delinquency, psychological influences on criminality, and the childhood identification and prevention of adult antisocial personality disorder. Further papers examine psychiatric aspects of incest involving juveniles, the diagnosis and treatment of juvenile sex offenders, and the need for national uniformity in laws concerning the age of consent for sexual conduct of minors. Additional papers focus on forensic psychiatric assessments of juveniles, normal and abnormal adolescent psychological development, issues in the forensic assessment of black adolescents, issues related to pediatric and adolescent medicine, treatment of psychiatrically hospitalized adolescents, and the physical restraint of psychiatrically hospitalized minors. Two final papers discuss the adolescent's right to psychiatric care and the role of the forensic psychiatrist in hearings regarding the transfer of juveniles to adult courts.
