Abstract
A DESCRIPTION IS GIVEN OF THE VARIOUS STATE INSTITUTIONS AND THE SERVICES OFFERED AT EACH ONE. COMMENTS ARE MADE ON STATE PLANS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES. ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIVISION OF PAROLE ARE HIGHLIGHTED. THE VOCATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS AND THE RESOURCES AND OPPORTUNTIES CENTER, WHICH PROVIDES RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES AND STAFF RESOURCES FOR MEN ELIGIBLE FOR WORK AND EDUCATIONAL RELEASE IN THE NEW HAVENS AREA, ARE DESCRIBED. COMMENTS ARE MADE ON THE COMMUNITY RELEASE PROGRAM WHICH SELECTS INMATES TO WORK OR ATTEND SCHOOL IN THE COMMUNITY. THE PROCEDURES FOR THE SAFE CUSTODY OF INMATES AS PRESCRIBED BY LAW, PROJECT REBOUND - A SPECIAL PROJECT PROVIDING OUTDOOR EXPERIENCES FOR INMATES, AND THE REDIRECTION CENTER WHICH AIDS PRETRIAL DETAINEES ARE PRESENTED. THE DOCUMENT CONCLUDES WITH A DISCUSSION OF STAFF TRAINING AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS.
