For example, the United States has recently moved from being the greatest lender nation to the greatest debtor nation in the world. In addition, egalitarianism is declining, and the unemployment rate among blacks and Hispanics continues to far exceed that of white Americans. Numerous incidents of racially motivated violence, the decline of the nuclear family, and demographic changes also suggest the likelihood of future instability. To address the problem, law enforcement should seek greater community involvement through such approaches as community-oriented policing.
