This report highlights the activities during 1989 of the Institute on Black Chemical Abuse.
Abstract
The "War on Drugs" has given the Institute an opportunity to assist the general public in moving toward substantive, positive change. It has been careful, however, to accentuate community empowerment and support development of comprehensive, readily available drug abuse treatment programs. Key activities for the Institute include: (1) development of a data base; (2) development of a new and expanded prevention team; (3) development of a technical assistance team; (4) production of its first video; (5) planning of a joint national clergy conference for Fall 1990; (6) coordination of the Institute's Replication Project, including development of a manual and a conference on the issue; and (7) consulting and/or training in over 20 States and 3 foreign countries. 5 tables.
