Abstract
There was a 5.6-percent increase in reported Index Offenses for the first six months of 1990 as compared with the first six months of 1989. Data for the first 6 months of the last 5-year period show an increase of 11 percent in the total number of Index Offenses. Arrest statistics reveal a 6-percent increase in both adults and juveniles Part II crimes during the first six months of 1990. Part II crimes include all non-traffic offenses other than the eight Index offenses and negligent manslaughter. Adult arrests increased particularly for offenses of disorderly conduct, fraud, vandalism, simple assault, and OMVWI whereas juvenile arrests increased for offenses of disorderly conduct, simple assault, theft, vandalism, and runaway status. Moreover, adult arrests decreased for aggravated assault and weapons violations, and juvenile arrests declined for motor vehicle theft and drug law violations. In addition, the report lists the number of Index Offenses by county for sheriff's offices and other law enforcement agencies for the first six months of 1989 and 1990. 7 tables
