Data on arrests for drug law offenses in Wisconsin during 1985-89 showed that adult arrests have increased by 11 percent and juvenile drug arrests have decreased by 24 percent during the last 5 years.
Abstract
Arrests for the sale or manufacture of drugs increased by 45 percent, while arrests for possession decreased by 6.8 percent during this period. Arrests related to cocaine or opium increased sharply, while marijuana arrests declined for several years before increasing in 1989. The incarceration of drug offenders and total admissions to county drug treatment facilities also increased substantially. Finally, the numbers of drug arrests and treatment admissions in Milwaukee County had a major effect on the statewide statistics. Data tables
