Abstract
The guide is designed to assist the instructor in developing appropriate lesson plans. To this end, learning goals, performance objectives, needed materials and equipment, and unit outlines are specified for 19 categories. The first eight categories cover felonious assault, sexual assault investigations, child abuse case interviewing, kidnapping investigations, robbery investigations, handling dead bodies, homicide investigations, and suicide investigations. The next eight categories encompass poison investigations, neglect, emotional abuse and deprivation, physical abuse, sexual abuse and exploitation of children, procedures for preliminary investigation of child sexual abuse and exploitation, and evidence collection in child sexual abuse cases. The final three categories involve interview and interrogation techniques, community child care facilities, child abuse reporting, and appropriate law enforcement responses. Supporting materials and references are provided.
