This unit covers specific performance objectives including possible causes of citizen stress, psychological responses to victimization, symptoms of persons in crisis, and techniques for defusing crisis symptoms. Other topics covered in the curriculum include providing information to crime victims, directing qualified victims to State assistance agencies, analyzing the effects of hate crimes on victims, and recognizing behaviors indicative of potential hostility. Scenarios depicting various stressful situations are provided for instructional support.
