Abstract
The first section describes the various types of drugs, the causes and onset of substance abuse, and the physical and psychological effects of alcohol and other drugs. In the second section, readers are provided with indicators of substance abuse in others, ways to recognize self-addiction, and ways to prevent alcohol and drug abuse among family and friends. This theme is further developed in the third chapter, which discusses early education, how to set a good example, and how to teach young children to resist drug use. The final section provides lists of private organizations, civic groups, religious organizations, and State agencies that can provide assistance in this area.
