This volume reviews research in the areas of corrections and sentencing, topics determined largely by current policy interests and funding priorities of Federal criminal justice research agencies.
Abstract
Some of the topics covered in these essays include a cross-national comparison of the use of incarceration, the evolution of interactions between political violence in Northern Ireland, the need to operate a corrections system that serves both political and ordinary prisoners, and the largest experimental evaluation ever conducted of intensive supervision programs in the U.S. Other subjects include experimental research designs on criminal justice, the evolution of the juvenile court, and the guidelines developed by sentencing commissions. The final two essays deal with research on bullying and on victimization theories.
