Any person who is an innocent victim of crime and sustains an injury, or anyone who is injured or killed while attempting to arrest any person, preserve the peace, or assist a Peace Office may file a claim with the Board. Benefits, similar to those paid under the Workers' Compensation Act, may be available to the victim and/or family. Claims may also cover expenses related to clothing, prescription drugs, broken eyeglasses, artificial limbs, and dental expenses related to the crime and victimization. Under the Act in Manitoba, there is no payment for pain or suffering of the victim.
