CHARACTERISTICS OF CLOTHING NEEDED FOR PROTECTION OF POLICE IN TERMS OF GENERAL REQUIREMENTS, WEAPON THREAT, PHYSICAL MOBILITY, COMFORT, AND APPEARANCE.
Abstract
THE PURPOSE OF THE PROTECTIVE GARMENTS IS TO REDUCE THE EFFECT OF THE PHYSICAL ASSAULT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS DURING THE PERFORMANCE OF ROUTINE DUTIES. THE SECTION ON GENERAL REQUIREMENTS COVER GARMENT CONFIGURATION, FUNCTIONAL APPLICATION AND LABELING. THE LEVEL OF PROTECTION OF BASIC WEAPONS, ADDITIONAL FIREARMS, AND CUTTING INSTRUMENTS ARE DISCUSSED. COMMENTS ARE MADE ON PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS SUCH AS BALLISTIC RESISTANCE, BLUNT TRAUMA RESISTANCE, WEARER INCAPACITATION AND AREA OF PROTECTION WITH DIAGRAMS OF AREAS OF THE BODY TO BE PROTECTED. OTHER SECTIONS COVER REQUIREMENTS RELATED TO PHYSICAL MOBILITY, COMFORT AND APPEARANCE, AND SERVICEABILITY AND MAINTENANCE.
