SUMMARY AND GENERALIZATIONS BASED ON POLICE COURT, AND CORRECTIONS RESPONSES TO A SIX QUESTION SURVEY FORMAT.
Abstract
NEW CRIME CONTROL AND COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS ARE NOTED. STATISTICS OF FUEL USAGE AND ELECTRICAL POWER CONSUMPTION AND THE EFFECTS OF A REDUCTION OF EITHER ARE EXAMINED. THE HISTORICAL PRECEDENTS OF THE IMPACT OF EARLIER GASOLINE RATIONING WERE EXAMINED AND A BRIEF GLIMPSE OF POWER COMPANY PLANS FOR ACCOMODATION TO AN ENERGY SHORTAGE WAS OBTAINED. MANY POLICE, COURT, AND CORRECTIONAL OFFICIALS WERE ASKED FOR THEIR PERCEPTIONS OF THE IMPACT ON THEIR OWN AGENCIES. ADDITIONAL SETS OF STATISTICS AND REPORTS OF THE PERCEPTIONS OF OFFICIALS ARE INCLUDED IN THE APPENDIXES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
