This report contains the recommendations of the St. James-Assiniboia School Bullying Syndrome Committee Report and related recommendations aimed at administrators, playground supervisors, counselors, classroom teachers, and clinicians.
Abstract
The committee's final report consists of a summary of research on bullying (covering characteristics of bullies and victims, causes of bullying, and specific goals of school intervention and prevention programs), the prevalence of bullying syndrome, descriptions of prevention programs, and committee recommendations to address the problem. The bulk of this document consists of a handbook outlining preferred teacher strategies and behavior management techniques. The handbook covers strategies and programs, school policies and procedures, and support services related to prevention, intervention, and postvention.
