The Portland Coalition for Safe Schools is a school-community partnership designed to eliminate or reduce the incidence of violence, victimization of youth, and crime in the schools while increasing the perception among students, school staff, parents, and the community of the school as a safe, disciplined, and positive environment for learning. The Franklin Safe Schools Project is a partnership effort among the four school districts in Franklin County, Washington, the Task Force for a Safe Community, and Educational Service District 123. The overall purpose of the project is to reduce the incidence of violent and disruptive behavior in the schools and the communities where they are located. The Stockton Unified Safe Schools Project targets a cluster of 11 schools severely impacted by school crimes and violence; it features a five-pronged systems approach designed to prevent and eliminate school violence, school crime, and the victimization of youth. SchoolWatch: Rx for Safety is a comprehensive, systemic prescription for the health and safety of schools in Butte County, Calif. The program blends preservation, protection, and prevention into partnerships that link 12 diverse K-12 schools with six major service agencies and four major communities. Project Teen Impact for Safe and Drug-Free Schools, located in the Sweetwater district (California),is designed to ensure a safe and secure learning environment through a comprehensive prevention/intervention program that focuses on improved student resiliency. Remaining projects are the Santa Ana Unified Project, which provides delinquency-prevention education to students and parents; and the School Community Safety Network, which is a San Diego project designed to develop and implement safety and awareness standards for crime prevention, greater crime intervention techniques, and enforcement strategies to improve school safety.
