John Walsh narrates the video as he introduces the viewer to the work of the NCMEC. The video shows operators on call 24 hours a day to receive calls for information and help in finding missing children. Case managers with law enforcement backgrounds assume responsibility for each case. Cases are classified by type for assignment to case managers with particular expertise. A specialty of the NCMEC is computer imaging that ages the facial features of a child as he/she matures physically, so as to aid in the identification of a child years after he/she was abducted. The video describes and re-enacts the successful recovery of a child in a parental abduction case, using the resources of the NCMEC. Another feature of NCMEC services is the distribution of updated photographs of missing children to homes throughout the country. Through this operation, one out of seven children is recovered. NCMEC operations profiled are the nationwide dissemination of leads and information, link and pattern analysis, technical assistance, database search, the tracking and plotting of leads, the maximization of media exposure, and the preparation and distribution of photos. One of the newer sections of the NCMEC focuses on the prevention of child abduction.
