These publications furnish local communities with the knowledge and materials to help them create programs to prevent teenage drinking.
Abstract
The package includes a poster and postcard to help community organizers educate fellow citizens and publicize the program. A Parent's Reference Card illustrates parents' important role in preventing underage drinking and provides suggestions on how to positively steer their children away from alcohol. The largest part of the collection consists of the following: (1) Community Action Guide: a how-to manual for creating community prevention programs; (2) Law Enforcement Action Guide: demonstrates the role of enforcement and police officials and describes proven enforcement methods; (3) Event Action Guide: how to build support for and host alcohol-free events; (4) Teen Action Guide: how young people can influence their peers and suggested prevention activities for young people; (5) Community Risk Assessment Guide: includes an opinionnaire and a community audit; and (6) Communicator's Guide: artwork, public service announcements, advertisements, letters, and news stories.
