Data collected from Canada's annual Police Administration Statistics Survey are presented in this report; summary information is included on Canada's municipal police forces which employ 63 percent of all police officers in Canada and provide policing services to 21.4 million Canadians (73 percent of the population).
Abstract
The statistical report is organized by province. Within each province, municipal police forces are grouped by one of nine population ranges and municipalities within each group are listed alphabetically. Population and police personnel and expenditure data are tabulated for each municipal police force. Municipal population figures are derived from official Census data. Police personnel strength data reflect actual strength as of September 1994 and include only sworn police officers, but data are also provided on civilian police personnel. Police expenditure data are tabulated for salaries, wages, benefits, other operating expenses, motor vehicle purchases, and long-term leases. 10 tables
