These proceedings are based on reports on current drug trends and patterns in their cities presented by members of the Community Epidemiology Work Group at their December 1995 meeting.
Abstract
These assessments of drug abuse and patterns contain data from public health services, medical and treatment facilities, criminal justice and correctional offices, law enforcement agencies, surveys, drug-related deaths reported by medical examiners/coroners, drug-related emergency department mentions, self-reports by clients at admission to treatment programs, arrestee urinalysis results, and seizure, price, purity, prescription/distribution, and arrest data obtained from the Drug Enforcement Administration and from State and local law enforcement agencies. These quantitative data are enhanced with information obtained through field reports, focus groups, interviews, and other qualitative methodologies. There are reports from 18 American cities and the State of Texas, and from eight foreign countries, an Asian multicity report, and a special report focusing on Hawaii. Exhibits
