Eleven conference "breakout" sessions explored various aspects of technology. Sessions were held on legal and liability issues of technology employment; simulation training technologies; investigative technology; concealed weapons and contraband detection; information technology; training technology delivery applications; electronic crime detection and apprehension; crime scene/crime lab technologies; location and tracking technologies; less-than-lethal technology update; and video surveillance systems and imagery analysis. In addition, industry representatives participated in an exhibition of the latest law enforcement and corrections technology products. The breakout session showcased how current technology is helping law enforcement. The conference also featured several keynote speakers and a wide-ranging general session discussion on technology, with panelists representing law enforcement, corrections, the courts, technology centers, and crime victims. Issues discussed by the panel included the need to be open to technological advances and to be sensitive to surviving victims of crime. Conference speakers and panelists emphasized progress to date and the critical need to proceed further. Lists of conference panel participants and conference exhibitors are provided.
