In December 1994, the National Institute of Corrections conducted prison security seminars for prison managers, security chiefs, and central office staff; security checklists were developed based on the course content of these seminars and on participant experiences.
Abstract
The checklists cover security audits, physical plant security and facility planning, technology, roster management, correctional staff recruitment and selection, security programming and education, threat groups, the use of force, and emergency preparedness. Appendixes contain a list of seminar participants and supplemental information on staff training, crisis indicators, emergency response resources, benefits of good security, and consequences of poor security.
