In tracing robbery from crisis to resolution, this video, and accompanying guidebook, is designed to help bank robbery victims cope with the emotional trauma of victimization and to inform victims about the criminal justice process. |

Abstract: |
In addition, the video is intended to help managers, security personnel, and families of victims understand victim experiences and be supportive. The video may also assist in training law enforcement officers, prosecutors, victim advocates, and other criminal justice personnel who work with victims of workplace robberies. Concepts of a crisis response program and a victim teller task force are introduced in the video. The crisis response program focuses on assisting victim tellers and bank customers immediately after a traumatic occurrence. Benefits of such a program are described, and factors to consider in choosing a crisis response program model are noted. The video points out that the Victim Teller Task Force in the Eastern District of Wisconsin has played a key role in developing and implementing a wide range of programs to assist bank robbery victims. Steps involved in creating a victim teller task force are outlined in the video, and guidelines on how to replicate Wisconsin's task force model are offered. Although bank robbery victims are featured in the video, the reactions described by those involved are also shared by other victims of violence. Therefore, agencies and businesses other than banks can benefit by sharing the video with employees who have been violent crime victims. |
