Current drug problems in the United States are discussed in the following categories: (1) Violence, Crime & Demographics; (2) Cocaine; (3) Heroin; (4) Methamphetamine; (5) Dangerous Drugs; (6) Marijuana; (7) Drug Use in the United States; and (8) Major Traffickers & Their Organizations. Some DEA programs are described which focus on marijuana eradication, foreign cooperative investigations, diversion control, demand reduction, and asset forfeiture. The discussions include information on Mobile Enforcement Teams, aviation operations, Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces, High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas, and State & local task forces. Seven recent DEA accomplishments, identified by project name or geographic area, are described.
