This document reports on the multi-agency, interstate efforts to eradicate/suppress marijuana, reduce the demand for the drug, and educate the public about its seriousness.
Abstract
The 1992 marijuana eradication suppression program incorporated law enforcement officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service, individual State agencies, and the National Guard. Operation Red River, a two-State, 20-day eradication effort, seized more than 40,000 sinsemilla plants in more than 700 plots and destroyed a potential $12,000,000 crop, and 26 tons of processed marijuana was confiscated and destroyed. In addition, the report includes chapters concerning: (1) Program Management and Coordination; (2) Training; (3) Operation Green Merchant; (4) Pilot Program; (5) Cooperation With Other Agencies; (6) Science and Research; (7) Funding; (8) Arrests and Assets; (9) Significant Cases; (10) Assets Seized; and (11) Eradication and Other Statistics.
