This report summarizes the 1995 activities and accomplishments of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, which serves as change agent for the State's criminal and juvenile justice systems and promotes interagency coordination, cross-component cooperation, and public-private coalitions.
Abstract
Major accomplishments included the conduct of a major statewide conference titled "Community Mobilization to Reduce Violent Crime: A Conference for Those Who Care", efforts in eight counties to implement the Communities That Care juvenile delinquency prevention model program, and the establishment of the Corrections Policy Advisory Committee to develop a comprehensive corrections plan for the State. The Commission also developed the State implementation plan for the STOP Violence Against Women formula grant program and awarded more than 460 grants totaling nearly $28 million in State and Federal funds. The commission's efforts focused on statistics and policy research, victim services, crime and drug abuse prevention, criminal justice training, drug control and system improvement, juvenile justice, community corrections, and civil and criminal training.
