Forest Ridge Youth Services in Estherville, Iowa is a residential treatment program for youths whose treatment needs result from problems such as undersocialization, emotional inadequacy, abuse victimization, chronic juvenile delinquency, and severe behavior disorders.
Abstract
Forest Ridge aimed to provide the highest quality residential treatment possible at reasonable cost. The strength of the program is the positive peer culture approach. The New Beginning Program is a 58-bed community-level residential program serving females ages 12-18 who demonstrate behavioral difficulties and associated thinking and decisionmaking errors but do not need medications specific to behavior control. The Center Program is a 63-bed community residential program serving 15 males and 48 females ages 13-18 who have severe difficulties but do not require medication. Program components include academic education, life skills training, sports and recreation, and other programs and activities.
