The statement of service performance provides information on policy advice, contract management, management of the parliamentary electoral system, administration of insolvencies, registration of statutory information, information services, community-based sentences and orders, custodial sentences, custody of remand inmates, escort and custodial supervision services for courts, and establishment of new justice entities. In the area of policy advice, the New Zealand Department of Justice is concerned with public law, crime, and justice-related social policies and with law reform and the development of an integrated justice information strategy. In the area of information services, the focus is on presentence and special- purpose reports, psychological reports, and community corrections parole program reports.
