This report presents descriptions and statistics on the caseloads, expenditures, and operations of the Virginia State court system during 1995.
Abstract
The system is being guided by the framework established by the Commission on the Future of Virginia's Judicial System. During the year the Judicial Council adopted performance standards for Virginia's trial courts that identify five performance areas and 22 outcome-oriented measures. The judicial system also conducted other efforts to improve and expand judicial services to the public. Additional sections summarize caseload activity, caseload changes and trends, summary data for each type of court, indigent defense services, the involuntary mental commitment process, the names and terms of judges, personnel salary and classification data, and expenditure and review data for the circuit and district courts.
