Crime scene investigation and laboratory examination provided details on the case presented by the prosecution in court. The father had burns on his hands, pieces of glass on his clothes, and gasoline residue on his watch and was accompanied by his pregnant, unmarried daughter in his van. While they were at an orchard, a struggle took place during which the van window was broken and the daughter was injured but not killed. The father then drove the van to the orchard road. He stopped the van near one of the trees on the right side of the road and set the van on fire using gasoline that he poured inside the van. He also poured gasoline on his daughter and on the hood of the engine to make it appear the fire resulted from an engine accident. While the engine was still running, he moved the van forward by engaging the transmission and steering the van from outside. The van moved only several meters during which time his hands were injured by flames in the van. At this point, the father turned the steering wheel twice so the van moved from the right to the left side of the road.
