After reporting on various activities related to drug law enforcement in Idaho, this report provides information and statistics on the operation of Idaho drug task forces in 1993 and 1994 and describes the jurisdictional composition and activities of individual task forces.
Abstract
Brief reports on Idaho drug law enforcement activities pertain to the reporting of drug-related offenses for Idaho Uniform Crime Reports, the extent of Idaho marijuana production, and training for Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) drug commanders. Training announcements and a profile of a new drug law enforcement program, "Operation Step-Up" are also addressed. A data summary for Idaho Drug Task Forces reflects the efforts of the task forces for the calendar years 1993 and 1994. Fourteen task forces are included in the data reporting. For each of the years 1993 and 1994, data for each task force covers the number of cases initiated, the number of cases turned over to another agency, the number of cases dropped for not enough evidence, the number of cases pending, the number of cases closed, and the number of cases that involve other agencies. Data are also provided on offender characteristics, case characteristics, drug removals by drug type, drug case dispositions, and sentencing. An overview of the task forces in general notes that their primary mission is to investigate, arrest, and prosecute street and upper-level drug dealers and to interrupt the distribution, sale, and use of controlled substances. The composition and activities of each of the task forces are briefly reviewed.
