This manual provides guidelines for use by drug treatment programs in establishing reasonable treatment goals and assessing the quality of their services by measuring the program's progress in reaching those goals.
Abstract
The manual describes the nature and purpose of clinical self-evaluation, the limitations on the use of the data, and methods for conducting such evaluations using data collection procedures already in operation in the program. Measures are discussed that relate to employment, drug use, criminality, termination from the program, and other issues. The guidelines also explain the role of clinical staff support, methods of establishing and using a database, the role of time, the use and comparison of subgroups and cohorts, the analysis of trends, and issues involved in dealing with small groups.
